These portfolios of photographs taken by some of the best Russian photographers of the day were given to high-ranking members of the Soviet Politburo. No more than 30 sets were produced. This one was presented to Lazar Kaganovich (1893-1991), at that time the First Secretary of the Moscow Obkom of the Communist Party and one of Stalin’s close associates.
