ETHIOPIAN MANUSCRIPT [19th Century]. 8vo (170 x 97 mm). 80 leaves of heavy parchment, prickings visible at fore-edge. 20 lines written in large, clear Ge’ez script in black and red ink, one page ornamented with an interlaced border and marginal flourishes in red and white framing 3 sides. Original reddish-brown morocco over heavy wooden boards, covers blind-tooled in panels. Condition: vellum darkened and thumbsoiled mainly to margins, ink inscription to front pastedown, library stamp and ink marks to opening leaf; extremities rubbed, spine worn with some loss.
