15. [BOOK SAFE]. Two Book Safes. [N.d.]. (6 5/8 x 4 1/4 inches; 170 x 105 mm). 19th century French marquetry onlay design with decorative veneer featuring robed image on front holding a book (the Bible it is assumed) in one hand and a crucifix with the other, the back features the same or similar figure with a falcon perched on one hand. The spine is decorated with a filligree pattern and the top is a sliding fitted tab revealing interior covered in red cloth. Condition: Slight chipping to corners, a few small bumps to veneer.
[And:] Book Safe/Cigarette case. (8 1/2 x 5 inches; 215 x 127 mm). Pine box with diamond inlay on front and back covers. Sliding drawer with metal spring-bar mechanism. Condition: slight warping with small separation along spine joints, corners show some wear; drawer sticks slightly. (2)
