Evaline Ness was married to Eliot Ness, well known member of the Treasury Department (and the inspiration for The Untouchables), from 1938 until their divorce in 1946. She was married to Arnold A. Bayard in 1959 until her death in Kingston, New York in 1986. Mr. Bayard was step-father to Jane; step-grandfather to Marni and Steve; and Great step-grandfather to Steve’s son, Charlie, each of whom received numerous inscribed books from Ness.
